Met Police Officer's Blair Witch-Style Basement Jump Scare Goes Viral
Police bodycam footage shows Blair Witch-style jump scare

Bodycam footage released by the Metropolitan Police has gone viral, capturing a moment of pure terror straight out of a horror movie during a routine search.

The Blair Witch Moment

The video, shared by the Met Police on TikTok with the theme from Stranger Things, shows an officer sweeping through a dark basement in a property on Colvestone Crescent, E8. Officers had seen a suspect enter the address, prompting the search.

In a scene reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project, the officer, armed with a torch, cautiously enters a bathroom. The tension builds as the camera focuses on a shower curtain pulled shut around the bath. With a sudden, bloodcurdling scream, the officer yanks back the curtain, revealing a motionless figure standing in the tub.

The Arrest and Aftermath

The figure was not a ghost, but a real person. A convicted drug dealer breaching a court order. The officer is heard saying, ‘Jesus Christ! Right, come out here, you’re under arrest.’

Once outside, after the suspect's rights were read, the officer admitted, ‘gave me the fright of my life, I can’t lie.’ The Met Police confirmed a female was charged with breaching her bail conditions and is still awaiting sentencing for possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

Social Media Reaction

The clip has amused viewers on TikTok, with many joking that the officer would never live down the footage. One user commented, ‘Hahaha, class. Imagine this being played in court,’ to which the Met Police’s account humorously replied, ‘with the tune from the shower scene in Psycho.’ Another viewer said the video made them like the Met Police.

While the video provides a lighthearted moment, it underscores the unpredictable and often startling nature of police work, where a routine search can quickly turn into a scene worthy of a Hollywood horror film.
