Parents Face Murder Charges in Tragic Death of Three-Month-Old Son in North London

Dounia Chetaouat, aged 32, and Abdelkader Essid, aged 44, are accused of killing their young son at a residence in North Finchley, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The tragic sequence of events began on 30 January, when police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at a property on Kingsway in North Finchley. Upon arrival, paramedics discovered the baby had sustained severe injuries and immediately administered emergency first aid before rushing him to a nearby hospital.
Chetaouat, who resides in North Finchley, and Essid, from Finchley, were both arrested on the same day on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. Subsequently, on 2 February, they were charged with causing or allowing serious physical harm to a child and remanded in custody.
