London nursery worker Vincent Chan faces 15 new child abuse charges
Nursery worker faces 15 new child abuse charges

A former nursery worker already convicted of dozens of sexual attacks on young children has been hit with a further 15 criminal charges, police have confirmed.

Previous Guilty Pleas and Convictions

Vincent Chan, 45, from Finchley, had previously admitted to 26 serious offences committed between 2022 and 2024. These included sexually assaulting four girls, all aged between two and four, at the north London nursery where he was employed.

His earlier convictions also encompassed crimes linked to the possession and creation of more than 25,000 indecent images of children. The nursery, operated by Bright Horizons and located in West Hampstead, has since closed down.

New Charges Revealed

The Metropolitan Police have now charged Chan with 15 additional offences, all of which are alleged to have occurred before the crimes for which he was already convicted. These new charges do not relate to the nursery setting.

The fresh allegations include nine counts of taking an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, some of which fall into the most severe category. He also faces six counts of committing acts outraging public decency. In total, these new charges relate to nine different girls.

Ongoing Investigation and Sentencing

Chan is currently in custody awaiting sentencing for his initial 26 convictions. That list of crimes included five counts of sexual assault by penetration of a child under five, four other sexual assaults, 11 charges of taking indecent photographs, and six counts of making indecent images.

The police investigation remains active and ongoing, indicating authorities are continuing to examine the full extent of Chan's activities. The new charges highlight the complex and protracted nature of bringing such cases to court.

This case has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious questions about safeguarding procedures within childcare settings. The swift police work in uncovering further alleged offences demonstrates a determined effort to secure justice for all potential victims.
