A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a 23-year-old woman's body in Clerkenwell. Police arrested six individuals—four women and two men, all in their 20s—on suspicion of murder at a new-build block in Bollinder Place at 9.33am on August 6. All six have been bailed, and as of Thursday, authorities have not released the victim's identity.
Arrests and Bail in Bollinder Place Incident
The arrests were made at a residential block in Bollinder Place, where the woman was found dead. The suspects, all in their 20s, were taken into custody but have since been released on bail. Police have not disclosed further details about the circumstances of the death or the relationship between the victim and the suspects.
Police Statements: Isolated Incident, No Wider Risk
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads local policing, expressed condolences: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young woman who has lost her life.” He assured the community that “local officers will continue to be visible in the area and are available to speak with residents who have questions or concerns.” Stewart added that “information available to us at this stage indicates this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.”
Investigation Ongoing; Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, leading the investigation, stated: “Detectives are working to establish exactly what happened in the time leading up to this woman’s death.” He urged anyone with information to come forward: “No matter how insignificant it may seem, I would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak with us.”
