Murder probe after grandfather killed in Kennington

The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 62-year-old man described by his heartbroken family as their 'rock'.

A Shocking Act of Violence

Michael Burrows, a loving grandfather from Lambeth, was involved in an altercation on Maddock Way in Kennington at approximately 1.15pm on Thursday, November 20.

Officers responding to the incident found Mr Burrows with a significant head injury. He was rushed to hospital for treatment but later died from his wounds.

Detective Chief Inspector David Whellams from the dedicated homicide team stated: "This was a senseless and shocking act of violence that has left a much-loved father dead. Our thoughts go out to Mr Burrows' family at this awful time."

A Family's 'Rock'

In an emotional tribute, the family of Michael Burrows remembered him as a devoted and charismatic gentleman.

They said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear father, our hearts are forever broken. He was our rock. He was a truly loving and devoted father and grandfather."

Describing his character, they added: "Our dad was a funny, charismatic and loyal gentleman who had a heart of gold and offered his support to everyone. He would always light up a room with his presence."

Appeal for Information

There have been no arrests made in connection with the murder, and police are urgently appealing for witnesses to come forward.

DCI Whellams acknowledged the concern this incident will cause within the local community and reassured residents that a dedicated team is working to piece together the events of that afternoon.

The family has joined police in appealing for information, stating: "If anyone has any information or sightings, please contact the police as this will be of crucial help with the investigation."
