Mother and Infant Found Dead in Queensland Home; Bloodied Man Struck by Car
Police in Queensland are actively investigating the tragic deaths of a 38-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter, whose bodies were discovered in their family home in the suburb of Bannockburn, near Logan in south-east Queensland. The grim scene unfolded after reports emerged of an injured man, covered in blood, being struck by a vehicle in the vicinity.
Discovery of the Deceased
Authorities were alerted to the incident following reports of a man with neck wounds who was hit by a black utility vehicle on Thursday morning in Logan, approximately 30 kilometers south of Brisbane. While attempting to notify the man's next of kin, officers made the harrowing discovery of the woman and her infant daughter inside their nearby residence.
Detective Superintendent Chris Ahearn confirmed that both victims sustained critical injuries from an edged weapon. "We believe the three of these people live in a family unit at that house – child, mother and father," Ahearn stated, emphasizing that investigations are heavily focused on the nature of their relationships and living arrangements.
Blood Trail and Witness Accounts
Witnesses raised the alarm after observing a man covered in blood running along a footpath before being struck by the vehicle about 300 meters from the family home. Evidence markers have been placed along the footpath, tracing a trail of blood leading from the house to the accident site.
The man remains in serious condition and is currently under police guard in a hospital. Authorities have confirmed that there were no domestic violence orders involving the couple and assured the public that there is no further threat to the community.
Ongoing Investigation
The home has been declared a crime scene as detectives continue their inquiries. Police are appealing to anyone with information or dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the local community, with authorities working diligently to piece together the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the man's injuries.
