Dramatic footage has emerged showing the moment police officers chased down and arrested a man carrying a concealed meat cleaver in East London.
The Incident Unfolds
Michael Tadese, 44, of Belly Road in Plaistow was apprehended near Shaftesbury Theatre in the early hours of Sunday, November 16. The incident began when Metropolitan Police officers on patrol spotted Tadese attempting to conceal what they described as an "item with a wooden handle" tucked into his waistband.
At approximately 12:13am, the officers approached Tadese, prompting him to flee the scene. During the pursuit, witnesses observed the suspect discarding a large knife before being quickly detained by police.
Swift Justice Served
Tadese was immediately arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the entire incident.
The judicial process moved rapidly following his arrest. Tadese was charged with the offence on the same day of his arrest, November 16. He subsequently appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, November 19, where he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court delivered a six-month prison sentence, bringing a quick conclusion to the case.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service provided details of the incident: "At 00:13hrs on Sunday, 16 November, police were patrolling the area of Shaftesbury Avenue in Camden when they saw a man concealing an item with a wooden handle in his waistband."
"The man made off from officers as they approached and was seen to discard a large knife. He was then quickly arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon."
The efficient response by officers prevented any potential harm to the public and resulted in the successful removal of a dangerous weapon from the streets of East London.
