Police have named and pictured Masum Miah as the victim of a fatal shooting in Newham, as detectives appeal for information to trace those responsible. The 20-year-old was shot inside a white motor vehicle on St Bartholomew’s Road, E6, at approximately 3am on Tuesday, August 18.
Officers were called to reports of a man shot inside a vehicle. Despite immediate efforts from police and medical staff, Mr Miah was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.
Suspects Fled After Shots Fired
According to police, shots were fired at the white vehicle before the suspects made off from the location. A murder investigation was launched shortly after the incident. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting as of the latest update.
Detective Chief Inspector Dan Whitten, leading the investigation, said: “Firstly, our thoughts remain with the friends and family of the man who has sadly died. We know this incident will cause concern in the local area, and I want to reassure the community that my team and I are doing everything we can to determine what happened and trace those responsible.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Police are urging anyone who may have information about the incident, or who captured relevant footage on CCTV, a doorbell camera, or dashcam, to come forward. DCI Whitten added: “Those in the area will continue to see an increased police presence throughout the day while these enquiries continue. We are asking anyone with information, or who may have witnessed anything in the early hours of the morning, to please contact us. Any piece of information, no matter how small, could be vital to our investigation.”
