Greater Manchester Police have launched an urgent manhunt for Marwan Jumaa, 20, a ‘high-risk’ prisoner who escaped from North Manchester Hospital on Tuesday evening while receiving medical treatment. Jumaa is serving an indefinite sentence in a secure hospital after being convicted of two robberies in which two women and police officers suffered serious injuries.
Details of the Escape
Jumaa was last seen in the Radcliffe area and has known links to Bury, Prestwich, Crumpsall, as well as London and West Yorkshire. Officers have warned the public not to approach him if spotted, urging anyone who sees him to call 999 immediately. Specialist officers, including the Force Critical Wanted Unit, have been deployed as the search enters its second day.
Police Statement
Detective Superintendent Amber Waywell said: ‘We are undertaking extensive work in our search for Jumaa, utilising all necessary resources and officers in order to return him to lawful custody. We have no information to suggest any intention to inflict imminent harm, but ultimately, he is a wanted and dangerous individual.’ She added: ‘I fully understand that this is concerning news, but I want the public to know that we are working around the clock to find him.’
Public Appeal
Police have urged anyone who believes they have seen Jumaa or has any information to call 999 immediately, quoting log 3544 of July 14, 2026. Anonymous information can also be passed to Crimestoppers. Authorities noted that Jumaa may require medical assistance.
