Man dies in fall from 15-storey seaside tower block

A man has died after falling from a 15-storey tower block in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, with neighbours reporting hearing a 'big scream' and glass smashing. Emergency services were called to Grampian Tower at approximately 6am on Friday morning following reports of 'significant concern for a man outside the block'. Officers arrived to find the man just outside the building, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbours describe hearing 'big bang' and screams

Daryl Hall, 36, told the BBC: 'What I heard was a big bang followed by loads of screaming and shouting. Then, probably 10 minutes later, sirens.' Another resident, Steve Watkins, 48, said he heard a 'big scream and a crash of glass'. The exact floor from which the man fell remains unknown.

Police investigation underway

Essex Police stated: 'His death is being treated as unexpected and is under investigation. Anyone with information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us. We're particularly interested in footage from in and around Grampian flats between 12am and 7am this morning.'
