Double murder charges follow complex police investigation
A 40-year-old man has been charged with murdering two women and violently attacking a third in separate incidents across London this year.
Simon Levy from Tottenham now faces allegations concerning the deaths of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, and Sheryl Wilkins, 39, alongside serious sexual assault charges against another woman.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that all three cases are now being treated as part of a single, joined investigation as detectives continue to appeal for information from the public.
Timeline of alleged offences
The investigation began on 17 March 2024 when police were called to reports of an unresponsive woman at a property on the Aylesbury Estate in south London.
The woman was identified as Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, though initial examinations could not determine her cause of death. Levy was first arrested on 1 April on suspicion of her murder but was released under investigation.
The case took a significant turn on 24 August when the body of Sheryl Wilkins was discovered on Tottenham High Road in north London. Levy was arrested for her murder more than a week after her body was found.
Additional charges emerge
While in custody, Levy faced further allegations concerning a third woman. Police charged him with two counts of rape, grievous bodily harm, and intentional suffocation in relation to an incident that occurred on 21 January 2024 in Tottenham.
On 4 September, Levy was re-arrested in connection with Valencia-Trujillo's death and formally charged with Wilkins' murder on 7 September.
Police appeal for information
Met Commander Clair Kelland stated: "The investigation into Simon Levy is one of great complexity. We are working closely with partners across relevant boroughs, including Haringey and Southwark, to encourage reporting and raise awareness of the support we can provide to victim-survivors."
Police believe there may be additional victims or witnesses who have not yet come forward and are urging anyone with information to contact them immediately.
Levy is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday regarding Valencia-Trujillo's death, followed by a pre-trial hearing at the Central Criminal Court on Wednesday concerning Wilkins' murder charge.
The Metropolitan Police emphasised their commitment to supporting all victims and survivors while pursuing justice in these serious cases.
