Transport for London has confirmed that five lines on its network will be partially shut over the spring bank holiday weekend, from May 23 to May 25, due to track and maintenance work, including ongoing upgrades on the Piccadilly line. Passengers heading to West London are advised to find alternative routes, as trains will not run from Hyde Park to Ealing and Hillingdon on each of the three days. Night Tube services will also not travel towards Heathrow Airport on Friday.
Additionally, a large section of the Windrush line in South London will close for one day as Network Rail carries out upkeep between Wandsworth and Southwark. Rail replacement buses will cover part of the route. Here is what you need to know.
London Underground Closures
District Line
Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25: No service from Earl’s Court to Ealing Broadway or Richmond due to track work. From May to early June, eastbound trains will not stop at Barons Court due to refurbishment work.
Piccadilly Line
Friday, May 22 to Saturday, May 23: No service from Hyde Park Corner to Heathrow Airport during Friday Night Tube due to line upgrades. Rail replacement buses will run. Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25: No service from Hyde Park Corner to Northfields or Uxbridge, including during Saturday Night Tube, due to line upgrades. London Overground Closures
Weaver Line
Monday, May 25: No service from Hackney Downs to Chingford after 10.45pm due to Network Rail maintenance work.
Windrush Line
Sunday, May 24: No service from Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction due to Network Rail maintenance work. Rail replacement buses will run between Canada Water and Clapham Junction.
DLR Closures
Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25: No service from Westferry or Poplar to Lewisham due to maintenance work. Rail replacement buses will run between Westferry and Island Gardens, and between Canada Water Bus Station and Lewisham.
Reduced Service on Train Network
London Northwestern Railway
A very limited service will run on London Northwestern Railway across Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 due to planned strike action. Passengers are urged to travel only if necessary, as trains will call at only a small number of stations. One train per hour will run between Euston and Milton Keynes, but these services may be subject to disruption and cancellation. There will be no service after 7pm on Friday and before 7am on Saturday.
Greater Anglia
No Greater Anglia trains will call at Tottenham Hale or Northumberland Park on Sunday, May 24 due to engineering works. Services will be diverted via White Hart Lane and Seven Sisters. These stations are expected to be busier than usual as Spurs and Everton fans head to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for an afternoon match. Weaver line and Victoria line services will run as normal, but longer queuing times are expected.
