Kuwait Reports Second Iranian Attack on Power Plant

Kuwait's ministry of electricity, water and renewable energy reported that a power and water distillation plant was attacked by Iran for the second time in two days, resulting in a fire at some facilities.

Details of the Attack

In a statement on social media, the ministry said the attack affected a "large number of electricity generation units," prompting emergency plans to mitigate the impact and "maintain the stability of the electricity grid." Firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze while damage assessment is underway.

Background and Vulnerability

Kuwait accused Iran on Saturday of targeting civilian sites and vital infrastructure, including a power and water desalination plant, according to Donna Ferguson. Kuwait, an extremely arid country, relies on desalinated water for about 90% of its drinking water, making it highly vulnerable to such attacks.
