Police are urgently seeking witnesses after two men were stabbed in separate but linked attacks in the Lambeth area of South London on Tuesday afternoon.
Violent Afternoon in Herne Hill
The Metropolitan Police were first alerted by the London Ambulance Service at 16:03 on Tuesday, 30 December. The call concerned reports of an attack by a group of men on Tram Close, a residential street in the Herne Hill district.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered a 31-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Paramedics treated him there for injuries that were later confirmed as non-life-threatening before he was taken to hospital.
Second Victim Found Minutes Later
Just four minutes later, at 16:07, police were called to a second location, Loughborough Park, which is close to the first scene. There, they found a 19-year-old man who had also sustained stab wounds.
He was also transported to a nearby hospital, where his condition was assessed as stable with injuries deemed not to be life-changing. The proximity of the incidents and their timing has led investigators to treat them as connected.
Ongoing Investigation and Appeal
No arrests have been made in connection with the double stabbing, and police enquiries are continuing. An overnight forensic cordon was put in place on Loughborough Park to allow for a detailed examination of the scene, which has since been removed.
The incident caused significant local disruption, with bus route P5 being diverted away from the area until approximately 9am on Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police reiterated the appeal for information, stating: "Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact 101, quoting CAD 4470/30Dec." Anonymous reports can also be made to the independent charity Crimestoppers.
