Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has posted a video showing a woman who swore at him before crashing her car, calling the incident 'instant karma'. The accident occurred during his campaign visit to Clacton-on-Sea on Tuesday evening, ahead of the upcoming by-election he triggered.
Video captures crash after verbal abuse
The footage, posted on X, shows a Vauxhall driver winding down her window to shout abuse at Farage. Moments later, she ran into the back of a BMW that had stopped at a red light. Farage commented: 'This lady shouted abuse at me and then crashed her own car. That’s what you might call instant karma!'
The incident is the latest in a series of confrontations Farage has faced in Clacton. In 2024, he was doused with a McDonald’s banana milkshake outside a pub after announcing his candidacy for the constituency.
Security concerns and by-election context
Reform UK MPs are now receiving round-the-clock security protection following the death of Ann Widdecombe. Farage’s by-election, called in protest at media and parliamentary scrutiny of his finances and backers, features a record 33 rival candidates.
The main Westminster parties are boycotting the contest, calling it a stunt. Among his highest-profile opponents are joke candidate Count Binface and actor-turned-politician Laurence Fox. Farage had hoped for a 'people versus the establishment' showdown, but now faces three candidates from the Official Monster Raving Loony Party and various independents.
