Two men sought in Hackney murder of Elijah Seriki, 23

Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Elijah Seriki in Hackney have released images of two men they need to trace. Cavalli Harriott, 22, and Jayqwan Stevens-Burke, 23, are wanted for questioning following the attack near Mossbourne Community Academy on July 13.

Appeal for information

The Metropolitan Police said the pair are known to frequent the East London borough, with Stevens-Burke also spending time in Grays, Essex. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, leading the investigation, stated: "We continue to carry out extensive enquiries to build up a picture of the events of that afternoon. We are now appealing to the public to help us progress our investigation and would urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of Cavalli Harriott and/or Jayqwan Stevens-Burke to contact police."

Fatal incident

Officers were called to Andre Street at approximately 1:40pm on Monday, July 13, following reports of an injured man. Mr Seriki died a short time later in nearby Hackney Downs. A forensic tent was erected overnight at the Hackney Downs Road entrance, metres from a children's play area, as investigators gathered evidence in the park and surrounding streets the following day.

Community response

Mayor of Hackney Zoë Garbett described Elijah's death as "shocking and saddening". She added: "We know that our residents will be worried and upset, and we are offering our support to those affected by this incident. Our teams are ready to provide assistance to the police in their investigation as needed."
