A man in his 20s remains in hospital after being shot on Elm Drive in Swanley last night (October 9). Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, Kent Police has confirmed.
The victim was airlifted to a London hospital and is in a serious but stable condition. Officers have cordoned off Acacia Walk and nearby roads while investigations continue.
MP addresses public concern
Laura Trott, MP for Sevenoaks, Swanley and the Dartford Villages, said she has been in contact with Kent Police following the incident.
“I know there is significant public concern over the presence of the police in Swanley last night,” Trott said. “I have been in touch with Kent Police this morning who have confirmed that a shooting took place on Elm Drive.”
She added: “The victim is currently in hospital, and arrests have been made. There is no suggestion that there is any ongoing danger to the public, as those involved are believed to have known each other.”
Enhanced police presence remains
Trott noted that an enhanced police presence will remain in the area for the meantime. “I will remain in close contact with the police and will post any updates when I have them,” she said.
Kent Police has been contacted for comment. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
