Three individuals have been apprehended by police after a failed arson attack targeted the offices of a Persian language media organisation in North West London. The incident occurred in Wembley just before 8:30 PM on Wednesday, April 15, when authorities received reports of an ignited container being thrown towards the premises.
Details of the Botched Attack
The container landed in a nearby car park, where the fire extinguished itself almost immediately. No damage was reported to the property, and there were no injuries sustained during the event. Following the attempt, the suspects fled the scene in a black SUV.
Police Pursuit and Arrests
An Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) pursued the vehicle after the driver failed to stop for police. The chase concluded when the SUV crashed on Ballards Lane, close to the junction with Woodberry Gardens in Finchley. A 16-year-old boy and two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life and taken into police custody.
As a precautionary measure, nearby buildings were evacuated. However, it quickly became apparent that there was no wider risk to the public. The incident is not currently being treated as a terrorist event, but detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing London are leading the investigation.
No Links to Other Incidents
Authorities have confirmed that this attack has not been linked to the attempted arson in Finchley earlier this week or last month's arson incident in Golders Green. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the motives behind the failed attack.
