Man seriously injured in Hackney after England World Cup match

Police are appealing for information after a 24-year-old man was violently attacked in Hackney following England's World Cup victory over Norway. The assault occurred on Gascoyne Road, near the junction with Bradstock Road, at 1:12am on Saturday, July 12, hours after the Three Lions secured a 2-1 win.

Victim left with serious head injury

The victim, who remains in hospital, sustained a serious head injury that is not life-threatening. Police believe he had a confrontation with another group while watching the match. One member of that group then attacked him. No arrests have been made, and the suspect is still at large.
