Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was left devastated after another victim of Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) refused to go to the police in the July 22 episode of Emmerdale, airing on ITVX and YouTube.
Charity's hope turns to despair
Earlier, Charity learned from DS Reid (Angela Lonsdale) that the Crown Prosecution Service would drop the case against Dr Todd, leaving her feeling defeated. Determined to find justice, her husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) urged Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) to help gather more evidence. Vanessa and Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant) visited the hospital, where HR rep Carol inadvertently left a document about Dr Todd on the printer. Vanessa retrieved it and tracked down a woman named Helen.
Charity joined Vanessa to meet Helen, who revealed that Dr Todd had sexually assaulted her. Charity and Vanessa encouraged Helen to report the crime, believing it would strengthen the case against Todd. However, during a later conversation at Jacobs Fold, Helen explained she did not want to revisit her trauma and preferred to focus on healing. Charity was heartbroken but respected Helen's decision.
Charity breaks down
After Helen left, Charity could no longer contain her emotions. She broke down in tears, exhausted by the ordeal. Despite the disappointing outcome, meeting Helen helped Charity feel less alone in her fight. With Dr Todd avoiding police consequences, Charity's quest for justice remains unresolved.
