Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) confronts Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) in EastEnders next week after discovering she was involved in the attack on his son Joel (Max Murray). The confrontation comes as DC Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) faces suspension from the police force, leaving Amy potentially more isolated.
Joel's Attack and Aftermath
Joel returned to Walford weeks ago after a stint in a young offenders unit, planning to stay with his mother Cleo (Mazz Murray), but she sent him back to his father Ross. Shortly after his return, Joel was attacked in the park by a group of local teens, including Lily Slater (Lillia Turner), Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), Amy, Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman), Ricky (Frankie Day), Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury), and Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega). The group tied him up, poured beer over him, and recorded the incident on their phones, leaving him chained to a fence for 45 minutes. When they returned, they found Joel had been untied and attacked again, suffering a serious head injury.
DC Craig Ingram's Suspension
DC Craig Ingram has been leading the investigation but has also been crossing professional boundaries with Amy. Next week, while Amy panics about something in private, Craig is suspended from public duty policing after his superior reveals a serious complaint has been made against him. Craig also learns he will be taken off the Joel case. Despite this, Craig continues to support Amy, promising to be there for her, and she is grateful.
Ross's Discovery and Confrontation
Amy faces more trouble when Ross approaches her after discovering she wasn't kind to Joel. Ross's anger grows when Craig informs him he's coming off the case. Ross stands up to Joel for Amy and later invites him to join his and Vicki Fowler's (Alice Haig) movie night. Vicki had earlier riled at Amy for her run-in with Joel.
The upcoming developments could push Amy closer to Craig if she feels isolated. EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One.
