Devoted Dad Dies After Bank Holiday Assault in Hartlepool

A 'much-loved' father who died following a street assault on Bank Holiday Monday has been identified as Steven Streeting. The 50-year-old suffered serious head injuries during the attack in Hartlepool, County Durham, in the early hours of Monday morning. He succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Family Tribute

In a heartfelt tribute, his family described him as a 'much-loved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, but above all else, a devoted husband and loving father.' They added: 'He will be deeply missed by his family and by all who knew and loved him. At this extremely difficult time, the family is supporting one another, while being assisted by specially trained officers from Cleveland Police. We kindly ask that our privacy is respected as we grieve and try to come to terms with our loss.'

Legal Proceedings

Aaron Hopper, 32, has appeared in court charged with murder and attempted grievous bodily harm against another man. Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth, Senior Investigating Officer, stated: 'Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this sad and difficult time.'
