Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) is violently attacked on Coronation Street, but the wrong culprit is blamed. The assault comes after Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) suffers a life-changing stroke due to non-fatal strangulation during consensual sex with Dylan.
Betsy's Stroke and Dylan's Blame
Betsy was rushed to hospital after a serious stroke left her unable to speak clearly. Doctors revealed her condition was caused by experimenting with non-fatal strangulation during consensual sex with Dylan. Recriminations flew, and Dylan found himself treated like a violent criminal by Betsy's family and friends. Now, one of them is about to make Dylan pay with a dose of Coronation Street justice, when the troubled teen is assaulted by a mystery attacker.
Three Suspects with Strong Motives
Three suspects have strong motives for wanting Dylan punished. Protective Mama Bear Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) laid responsibility for her daughter's injuries at Dylan's door, gave him a verbal eviscerating in front of his dad Sean Tully (Antony Cotton), and reported him to the police. Dylan's best mate Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) was falsely accused by Dylan of sleeping with Betsy and causing her injuries. Dylan initially went into denial and tried to blame Brody, but later broke down and took responsibility. However, 'sorry' may not be enough for Brody. Betsy's best friend Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) knows all too well what it's like to be gaslit and coerced. She has made it clear she thinks Dylan deserves to be behind bars and has been pressuring Betsy to press charges. Lauren cannot accept Betsy's decision not to hold Dylan responsible and insists what he did was sexual abuse.
Upcoming Episodes: Attack and Wrong Accusation
In upcoming episodes, an attack on Dylan leads to the finger pointing at the wrong person. Betsy confides in Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) that she'd like to talk to Dylan but knows how Lisa will react. Ryan summons Dylan for a face-to-face conversation. As Betsy tries to reassure him she doesn't blame him, they're interrupted by Lisa. Later, Lauren and Brody visit Betsy, who struggles to speak. Horrified to hear Dylan called round, Lauren insists to Brody that Dylan needs to be held accountable. With Lauren's words ringing in his head, Brody confronts Dylan in the café, ordering him to stay away from Betsy. Dylan counters that Brody is just jealous because Betsy never showed interest in him. The lads square up, forcing Nina (Mollie Gallagher) to intervene. Later, in the precinct, Nina finds Dylan unconscious. When Dylan wakes up, will he tell who attacked him?
Sean Accuses Brody
Later on the Street, Sean confronts Brody and accuses him of attacking Dylan. Dylan tries to pull Sean away and swears blind that Brody wasn't responsible. Is Dylan telling the truth? Is Sean barking up the wrong tree? And if Brody didn't attack Dylan... who did?
