Coronation Street's Cassie in deadly danger after Ross kidnap twist
Coronation Street: Cassie's fate uncertain after Ross kidnap

Cassie Plummer's (Claire Sweeney) life takes a devastating turn in Coronation Street ahead of her exit next week. After the arrival of Tyrone Dobbs' (Alan Halsall) father Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield), Cassie becomes determined to expose his true colors. Later this week, she reveals that Ross paid her for sex when she was just 15 years old, but is horrified to learn that Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) has forgiven him by the following day.

Cassie's plan backfires

In a bid to sabotage Ross's new job at Highfield Prison, Cassie crushes tablets into his smoothie so he fails a mandatory drug test. However, she accidentally drops the pill packet, and everything unravels when Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) finds it and ends their relationship.

Next week, having been dumped by Steve and thrown out by Tyrone, Cassie wakes up on the sofa at No.4. Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) explains how he found her drunkenly slumped in the cab office and brought her home. Later, she emotionally tells her grandchildren that she has been offered a job as a cleaner on a cruise ship and says a heartfelt goodbye.

Kidnap twist

Before leaving, Cassie asks Steve to meet her at the precinct, but Ross pulls up first and offers her a lift. Cassie gets in the car, only for Ross to lock the doors and speed away, just as Steve arrives. The next day, Steve asks Ross where he dropped Cassie off, and Ross suspiciously pretends not to know what he's talking about. When Steve reveals that he saw her getting into his car, Ross is forced to backtrack and hastily explains that he took her to Piccadilly Station.

'She feels she has absolutely no choice. She has been rejected by the love of her life, Steve, and everyone else has turned their backs on her. She feels her life there has been destroyed. The only option left is to take that job on the cruise ship,' actress Claire Sweeney said. 'Whether she actually makes it to that ship or what happens when Ross takes her—that's the beauty of it. No one knows, and it's left wonderfully open,' she teased.

Is Cassie in danger?

Is Ross telling the truth, or could Cassie be in serious danger – or worse? The soap leaves her fate ambiguous, with fans speculating on a possible death or escape.
