Detectives are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after a tree surgeon allegedly killed his wife before taking his own life. Stacy Mair, 35, and her husband Jim were found dead in their remote cottage on the outskirts of Renfrewshire, Scotland. Police are treating both deaths as unexplained as post-mortem examinations are carried out.
Couple Found Dead in Remote Cottage
The couple, who married in 2019, both worked for TRS Tree Surgery based in Glasgow. Their home was surrounded by detectives and forensic officers, who closed off surrounding roads. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'An investigation is ongoing into the deaths of a 35-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man in the Houston area.'
Police Investigation Underway
Around 7:50am on Monday, 27 July, police received a report of concern for a person on Corsliehill Road. Emergency services attended and found the bodies of a man and a woman nearby. The deaths are being treated as unexplained, and post-mortem examinations will be conducted. Extensive enquiries are continuing, but at this time there is nothing to suggest anyone else was involved. Relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
