Prince Harry has revealed that he experienced bullying at school because of his hair color, being nicknamed 'carrot top' by classmates. The Duke of Sussex, 41, shared this during his guest spot on The Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast, when asked about common misconceptions people hold about him.
Bullying Over Hair Color
During the podcast, former England rugby international Joe Marler expressed astonishment at Harry's response. Harry jested: 'People think I'm ginger, but I'm more sort of like, um, sunset auburn.' He then recounted the teasing: 'Unless you want to call me ginge. You know? I got bullied a lot at school, called carrot top.' Marler remarked it was 'not funny,' before Harry quipped: 'I'm going to need therapy after this.'
Education and Royal Background
Harry attended Wetherby School in London, then Ludgrove School in Berkshire, and later Eton College. His choice of Eton departed from royal convention, as earlier generations attended Gordonstoun in Scotland, though his elder brother, Prince William, also studied at Eton.
Other Podcast Revelations
Harry was also asked if he would exchange lives for a day with Harry Styles, Harry Kane, or Harry Potter. He selected England captain Harry Kane, but only 'on a winning day,' adding: 'You don't want to be Kane on a losing day, do you?' He expressed confidence that England would ultimately win the World Cup. Regarding mental health, Harry explained that consistent physical activity is crucial: 'Going to the gym is an absolute... any form of exercise is great, especially when you're depressed.' When asked his profession, he responded: 'Full-time dad, British Army veteran, Prince of England, Duke.'
Invictus Games and Family Visit
The podcast was recorded during Harry's recent visit to Britain for next year's Invictus Games. During the trip, Harry, his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, met King Charles III and Queen Camilla for the first time in four years at the monarch's Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire. This marked the King's first documented encounter with Archie and Lilibet since the family attended Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee festivities in 2022. Further details about the family gathering have not been publicly disclosed.
