Detectives investigating a fatal crash in Harrow have released an image of a man they believe may be a key witness. The appeal comes months after a 79-year-old man was knocked down by a car outside Buckingham Preparatory School on the northern end of Rayners Lane in Pinner.
Details of the Incident
Police and paramedics attended the scene at around 1pm on December 19, where the pensioner was treated for serious injuries. He died in hospital three days later, the Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement at the time. Though yet to be named publicly, his family continue to be supported by specialist officers with the force.
Appeal for Information
Investigators are now looking to speak to a man they think may have helpful information. Detective Constable Anna Znajkiewicz, leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends who are still coming to terms with his loss. We are continuing our enquiries to establish exactly what happened and we have spoken to a number of people who were in the area at the time."
"However, examination of CCTV has identified a possible witness who was walking outside Buckingham Preparatory School at the time of the collision, and we believe he may have seen what happened. We are releasing his image in the hope that he will come forward."
Driver Under Investigation
The driver of the car involved has been interviewed under caution and remains under investigation. Anyone who recognises the man pictured is urged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0207 960 8044 or by calling 101, quoting CAD 3513/19DEC25. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
