Police are searching for a bearded man after a 62-year-old victim was left with a broken jaw in what detectives describe as a "highly alarming" assault in Enfield Town Park. The incident occurred at approximately 2pm on Friday, June 26, when the victim was sitting on a bench and was attacked by an unknown man.
Police release CCTV image of suspect
The Metropolitan Police have released a CCTV image of the man they wish to identify in connection with the attack. The suspect is described as white, of tall build, with short black hair and facial hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt and blue shorts at the time of the incident.
Despite ongoing investigations, police have been unable to identify the man and today (July 9) launched a public appeal for information. Detective Inspector Allen Windsor, leading the investigation, said: "This was a highly alarming incident, which has left the victim and his family in distress. Despite the best efforts to identify the man, we are now appealing to the public for further information."
Isolated incident, police say
Detective Inspector Windsor added: "Nobody should be attacked like this. We believe this to be an isolated incident, and we remain committed to identifying and bringing the perpetrator to justice – can you help?" The victim, who sustained a broken jaw, is receiving support from officers.
