Man Who Raped Young Men and Deliberately Gave Them HIV Jailed for Life
A man who raped young men and deliberately gave them HIV has been jailed for life. Adam Hall, 41, was sentenced at the Old Bailey for a series of attacks that left his victims with lifelong health conditions.
Hall targeted vulnerable young men through online dating apps, where he would arrange meetings. Once alone with his victims, he would drug them before carrying out the assaults. He also infected them with HIV, knowing he had the virus.
Detectives described Hall as a “predatory and dangerous individual” who showed no remorse for his actions. The court heard that he had been diagnosed with HIV years earlier but continued to have unprotected sex without disclosing his status.
One victim said in a statement: “He has taken away my future. I live in fear every day.” Another told the court: “I feel like my life has been stolen from me.”
The investigation began when one victim reported the crime to police. Further inquiries revealed a pattern of similar attacks. Officers found evidence on Hall’s phone that linked him to multiple victims.
Sentencing and Reaction
Judge Sarah Whitehouse sentenced Hall to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years. She said: “You are a highly dangerous man who poses a significant risk to the public. Your actions were calculated and cruel.”
Detective Inspector Mark Rogers of the Metropolitan Police said: “Hall is a prolific offender who used deception and violence to target vulnerable people. We are pleased he will spend a long time behind bars.”
The case has raised concerns about the safety of online dating and the importance of disclosing HIV status. Health experts have urged people to get tested regularly and to be open about their sexual health.
Hall’s victims have been offered specialist support, including medical care and counselling. Police have encouraged anyone else who may have been a victim to come forward.
This case highlights the devastating impact of such crimes and the importance of justice for survivors.
