Hailey Bieber's sister avoids jail in assault case

Alaia Baldwin Aronow, the older sister of model Hailey Bieber, will avoid jail time after accepting a pre-trial diversion program in connection with four misdemeanor charges stemming from a chaotic incident at a Georgia nightclub in February 2024. The charges include simple battery, simple assault, battery, and criminal trespass, according to documents obtained by TMZ.

Incident at Club Elan

The charges date back to a girls' trip Baldwin took to Savannah, Georgia, in February 2024 to celebrate a friend's upcoming wedding. During the night out at Club Elan, staff reportedly called 911 over Baldwin's behavior. Employees claimed the 33-year-old, daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin, attempted to use a bathroom designated for employees and was directed to a public restroom instead, but the interaction escalated.

Three staff members accused Baldwin of assault. One security guard told police that Baldwin pulled hair from his head while he tried to restrain her, while another claimed she kicked him in the groin. Bartender Haleigh Cauley reported an unusual confrontation involving a used tampon, which she said made contact with her face. Cauley later clarified that Baldwin did not throw the tampon but swung it upward while holding it during the confrontation.

Legal resolution and statements

Baldwin's lawyers, Drew Findling and Cris Schneider, had previously expressed confidence about the case. 'We remain absolutely confident, there will be a positive resolution,' they told the Daily Mail in January. The pre-trial diversion program may include requirements such as counseling and community service, and Baldwin has agreed to cover the cost of participation.

In a statement to TMZ, Baldwin's attorney said she was 'embarrassed and saddened by the events of that night' and was 'proactively taking the necessary steps to ensure that it never happens again.' Baldwin had maintained she was defending herself and that the confrontation was blown out of proportion. According to a police report obtained by E!, she initially denied throwing the tampon before acknowledging she had done so.

Background and family ties

Baldwin is the eldest daughter of Stephen Baldwin and Kennya Baldwin, making her the older sister of Hailey Bieber, founder of Rhode. The sisters were raised together in New York and have remained close. Alaia married film producer Andrew Aronow in 2017, with Hailey as maid of honor, and the couple welcomed daughter Iris in 2020.

As part of the diversion program, Baldwin will avoid jail, and the outcome resolves the charges filed in January. The case has concluded with this agreement, and Baldwin is expected to comply with the program's terms.
