Danny Miller confirms father alive after death hoax

Emmerdale actor Danny Miller has confirmed that his father, Vince Miller, is alive and well after false rumours circulated online claiming he had died. The 35-year-old, who plays Aaron Dingle on the ITV soap, took to social media to address the hoax after receiving countless messages from concerned friends and family.

Danny Miller addresses death hoax

In a video posted last Friday, Danny said: 'My dad's alive. What an awful, awful thing to just be on your main grid. Imagine the day when it actually comes and the sad news happens, if that happens before me with his dementia, people go "oh I thought he died two years ago". My dad is alive.'

He explained that fabricated Facebook and Instagram posts claimed his father had died in a tragic car accident. Danny said his 17-year-old niece messaged him asking if it was true, prompting him to speak out. 'Family members and old friends of his messaging me, and I thought I'll just address it on here and hopefully people will get that he is alive,' he added.

Impact of false rumours

Danny criticised those who create such accounts for profit, saying: 'To the sad people who are starting these accounts. It's beyond me. I get that you can make money on things these days, and engagement earns you money, but to then use utter s***.' He noted that the rumour was not even believable, as it claimed his father, who lives with dementia, died in a car accident.

Supporters rallied behind Danny. Wendy commented: 'I'm so relieved and like yourself, am absolutely disgusted and flabbergasted with what's been posted. I feel for you.' Jill wrote: 'I read that story Danny – didn't believe it but knew many people might – absolutely disgraceful – why do people do this – how do they sleep at night?'

Positive update

This week, Danny shared a heartwarming photo of himself and his father holding hands and smiling at a cafe, captioned: 'All well and good', with a heart hands emoji. Vince Miller is a well-known figure in Manchester's entertainment scene, having worked as a compère for acts including The Beatles and Take That.

Emmerdale storyline

In Emmerdale, Danny's character Aaron Dingle is suspicious of newcomer Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy), Robert Sugden's distant cousin. In upcoming episodes, Robert is struck by a trailer, and Aaron believes Serena's presence at the scene is suspicious. Aaron and his mother Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) decide to keep an eye on her. As they dig for answers, a secret on Serena's stolen phone threatens to unravel everything.
