President Donald Trump declared that his visit to China had been 'incredible,' emphasizing that substantial progress was made on multiple fronts. 'I think a lot of good has come of it,' he said during a joint appearance with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Zhongnanhai leadership compound in Beijing.
Trade and Diplomatic Achievements
Trump highlighted the successful conclusion of 'fantastic trade deals for both countries,' asserting that his administration had resolved numerous complex issues that others could not. 'We've settled a lot of different problems that other people wouldn't have been able to solve,' he stated, underscoring the strength of his relationship with Xi.
Discussions on Iran
The two leaders also addressed the situation in Iran, with Trump noting a shared perspective. 'We did discuss Iran. We feel very similar about [how] we want it to end. We don't want them to have a nuclear weapon. We want the strait open,' he explained. He further described the situation as 'a crazy thing there,' emphasizing the need for a resolution.
The meeting, held in the historic Zhongnanhai compound, marked a significant moment in US-China relations, with both leaders expressing optimism about future cooperation.
