The Guardian has published a series of corrections and clarifications addressing factual errors in recent articles. Among the corrections, an article about a gun found in a French lake, linked to the 2012 Alps killings, incorrectly described Annecy as an “Alpine village.” Annecy is, in fact, a city. The crime occurred near Chevaline, close to Lake Annecy.
Correction on Annecy and the Alps killings
The article, titled “Gun found in French lake examined for links to 2012 Alps killings” (3 September, p16), stated that the deaths of three Britons and a French man occurred near the “Alpine village” of Annecy. The correction clarifies that Annecy is a city, and the crime scene was near Chevaline, which lies by Lake Annecy.
Correction on Tupac Shakur murder trial
Another correction pertains to an article on the Tupac Shakur murder trial, titled “Long overdue” (3 September, p27). The article stated that suspected gunman Orlando Anderson died in 2004; however, he died in 1998. This correction ensures the accurate timeline is recorded.
Other recently amended articles
The Guardian also listed several other articles that have been recently amended, covering a range of topics. These include a piece on mental health groups, where the Mind chief said they have “failed to acknowledge” the risk of violence; an opinion piece titled “Fat people cannot win, regardless of what we do. And I’ve had enough”; a report on a Nazi-looted painting that must be returned to a Jewish art dealer’s heir, as ruled by an Argentina court; and a story about a 45-year-old woman killed in Florence, the seventh alleged femicide in Italy since mid-August.

Further amended articles include Katie Taylor’s retirement from boxing as undisputed champion, Prince William representing King Charles at the funeral of Norway’s King Harald V, a piece on the Bayeux tapestry and ancient artefacts, and an interview with Werner Herzog on topics including neurodivergence and baby foxes. Also corrected is a test of eco-friendly laundry detergents, where 11 products were evaluated.
