Vernon Kay has bought a £3,000,000 property close to the family home he once shared with Tess Daly, and the former Strictly Come Dancing host is reportedly supporting him with the move. The couple announced their separation earlier this year after 23 years of marriage, saying they would remain friends.
Vernon Kay's new home near family
The TV presenter, 52, has purchased a house not far from the family home in Buckinghamshire, according to reports. The property is currently under renovation and is said to include a swimming pool and a sprawling garden.
A source told The Sun: 'Vernon has now bought a place close to the family home in Buckinghamshire. It means he can stay close to their girls, which is something important to both him and Tess. He's having renovations done and will move out when the house is ready. Tess is supporting him with the move.'
The source added: 'It's going to be very strange for them after living together for over two decades, so they're both treating the situation with care and respect.'
Couple's history and family life
Vernon and Tess, 57, share two daughters: Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 17. The family home they once shared included a gym and a large conservatory, and was also home to Tess's Shetland ponies, Honey and Willow.
The couple met in 2001 while working on rival channels: Vernon was hosting Channel 4's T4, while Tess presented SMTV on ITV. Vernon proposed on Christmas Day in 2002 at Tess's parents' home, and they married the following year at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Horwich, near Bolton. Their first daughter, Phoebe, was born in 2004, and their second, Amber, in 2009.
Joint statement on separation
Earlier this year, the couple released a joint statement on social media, writing: 'After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.'
They continued: 'This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us. We remain great friends and most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority.'
The statement concluded: 'There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together. We will not be making any further public comments.'
