Gregg Wallace has announced he is going to be a grandfather, but his initial social media post accidentally exposed his family's private medical details. The 61-year-old former MasterChef presenter shared an ultrasound image on Tuesday morning that included a border with personal information such as the patient's name, date of birth, and medical ID numbers.
His followers quickly pointed out the error and urged him to remove the post to protect his family's privacy, as reported by Metro. Wallace, initially confused, soon understood the warnings and deleted the original post. He then reshared a close-up of the ultrasound showing only the foetus, captioning it: 'Grandad. This is my granddaughter. I’m going to be a grandfather.'
Family Details and Congratulations
Wallace did not specify which of his two older children is expecting: his 32-year-old son Tom or 29-year-old daughter Libby. He also has a seven-year-old son, Sid, with his wife Anna, 37. Background: Departure from MasterChef
Wallace has been off mainstream TV for about two years since being removed as co-host of BBC's MasterChef following allegations of inappropriate behaviour. He faced backlash for blaming 'middle-class women of a certain age' and later expressed regret, saying on Substack in January: 'It was a stupid, defensive, and arrogant thing to say. I felt like I was being backed into a corner, and I lashed out. There’s no excuse for it. It was hurtful and wrong.'
The BBC dismissed Wallace in summer 2025 after a review upheld 45 of 83 complaints, with allegations against co-star John Torode also leading to his exit. Wallace attempted to sue the BBC for up to £10,000 in damages over alleged failure to disclose personal data, but dropped the case just before the hearing.
Recent Ventures and MasterChef's Return
Since his dismissal, Wallace has promoted his Cameo account and launched a 12-hour TikTok live cooking show in April, promising 'some amazing dishes, we are going to have some incredible guests, lots of cookery, lots of live chat and more importantly, lots of very good offers for you to buy on TikTok shop.' The launch had limited success. Meanwhile, MasterChef has returned with new presenters Grace Dent and Anna Haugh.
