Fresh revelations have emerged from the latest tranche of documents released by the US Department of Justice, shedding new light on the relationship between Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The emails, dating from 2010, provide disturbing insights into their communications during a period when Epstein was recently released from house arrest.
Buckingham Palace Invitation After Epstein's Release
One particularly striking email exchange from September 29, 2010, shows Andrew inviting Epstein to meet him at Buckingham Palace. This invitation came after Epstein had been released from house arrest earlier that year, having pleaded guilty to child sex offences. In the correspondence, Epstein mentioned he was in London and inquired about Andrew's plans.
Andrew responded that he was having lunch with a Saudi prince and representatives from a secret intelligence firm. He later followed up with an email stating: "Delighted for you to come here to BP. Come with whomever and I'll be here free from 1600ish to 2000." The abbreviation "BP" is understood to refer to Buckingham Palace, raising serious questions about royal protocol and judgment.
Discussions About Russian Women
Another email thread from the same year reveals Epstein offering to arrange a meeting between Andrew and a 26-year-old Russian woman. In December 2010, Epstein told Andrew he had a female friend he believed the then prince would enjoy meeting. Andrew replied that he was in Geneva, Switzerland, at the time but expressed interest, saying he would be "delighted to see her."
When Andrew asked what information Epstein had shared about him with the woman, Epstein responded: "She 26, russian, clevere [sic] beautiful, trustworthy." He added that he had already provided the woman with Andrew's email address, suggesting a concerning level of familiarity and information sharing between the two men.
Photographic Evidence and Wider Implications
The document release also includes a photograph showing Andrew, fully clothed, positioned on all fours over a woman on the floor. This image, while not depicting illegal activity, adds to the troubling context of the relationship between the former prince and the convicted sex offender.
These revelations come at a difficult time for Andrew, who was stripped of his royal titles in October last year amid continued headlines about his friendship with Epstein. The financier killed himself in prison in 2019 while facing new child sexual abuse charges. Andrew will also have to move out of the Royal Lodge in Windsor after King Charles initiated a formal process to remove his brother's style, titles, and honours.
Broader Connections Revealed
The latest document release reveals that other prominent figures had more extensive ties to Epstein than previously known. Emails from 2013 show Elon Musk cordially messaging Epstein to make plans for visiting the financier's private island, Little St James. This suggests a wider network of associations that continues to be uncovered through these document releases.
Additionally, the emails show that Epstein transferred thousands of pounds to Reinaldo Avila da Silva, the husband of former Labour minister Peter Mandelson, after Epstein's release from prison in 2009. Da Silva had emailed Epstein in September 2009, approximately two months after his release, requesting funding for an osteopathy course and other expenses.
Mandelson stated on Friday: "I was never culpable or complicit in his crimes. Like everyone else, I learned the actual truth about him after his death." Da Silva has not yet commented on these latest revelations.
The release of these documents represents another significant development in the ongoing Epstein scandal, with approximately three million pages relating to the case made public on Friday. These communications provide further evidence of the concerning relationships Epstein maintained with high-profile individuals even after his conviction for serious sexual offences.
