British Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty was escorted from a plane by armed police following what sources describe as 'sinister threats' made against him during his stag weekend in Hungary.
Airport Incident and Security Response
The alarming situation unfolded on Sunday night when the 30-year-old athlete's flight from Budapest arrived at Manchester Airport. According to reports, five uniformed police officers met the plane amid serious security concerns.
A source revealed to The Sun that authorities had monitored CCTV for suspicious activity throughout the incident. Peaty was subsequently escorted from the terminal building directly into a waiting vehicle over fears he could be physically assaulted.
Family Tensions and Wedding Drama
The security scare comes during a very public family dispute surrounding Peaty's upcoming Christmas nuptials to Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The couple plan to marry at Bath Abbey.
Notably absent from recent wedding festivities was Peaty's mother, Caroline, who played a crucial role in supporting her son's career that yielded three Olympic gold medals. Reports indicate she was at home caring for Adam's five-year-old son, George, during the wedding celebrations.
The situation has escalated on social media, with Peaty's aunt, Louise, publicly criticising the couple. She commented on Holly Ramsay's old engagement announcement post, accusing her of being 'divisive and hurtful' towards Caroline.
Escalating Threats and Police Involvement
A friend close to the situation explained that the issues extend far beyond wedding invitation disputes. 'Things escalated over the weekend when someone became increasingly abusive and threatening over text,' the friend revealed.
'Adam was trying to enjoy his stag do and was getting freaked out by it all. He then received a specific threat that he'd be met off the plane. He told Holly who called the cops after consulting with her family.'
Meanwhile, Holly Ramsay celebrated her own hen weekend at the exclusive Soho Farmhouse, attended by notable figures including Victoria Beckham, her mother Tana, and Adam's sister.
Metro has contacted both Adam Peaty's representative and Greater Manchester Police for official comment regarding the incident.
