Jonathan Ross's Rarely-Seen Son Harvey Makes First Public Appearance in Years
Jonathan Ross's Son Harvey Seen Publicly for First Time in Years

Jonathan Ross’s son Harvey made his first public appearance in years during a family night out at Death Note The Musical in London on Tuesday night. The 65-year-old Traitors star posed for photos with his 32-year-old son, who now sports a beard and long hair, a stark contrast to his last public sighting in 2015 when he had short platinum blonde hair.

A Rare Family Outing

Harvey, who does not use social media, was also seen with his father on Celebrity Gogglebox in 2021, alongside his youngest sister Honey, 29. The theatre event was attended by Jonathan’s wife and Harvey’s mother, Jane Goldman, 56, who first met the comedian in the late 1980s. The couple have been together for nearly 40 years, having started dating when she was 16 and he was 26. They also have another daughter, Betty, 35.

Harvey’s rare public appearance comes a year after his sister Honey revealed he had become engaged to his long-term partner, Muna Silver. Muna also attended the show, matching her fiancé in an all-black outfit, while Jane wore a blue floral dress and Jonathan opted for white linen trousers.

Engagement and Family Plans

During an appearance on the Table Manners podcast, Jessie and Lennie Ware asked Jonathan: “Did your son Harvey used to dress up in superhero costumes as a child?” He replied: “Not really. We raised them all in a kind of somewhat gender non-specific environment, so whatever they wanted to do. Harvey has got the longest hair in the family, and largely unwashed. He doesn’t wash it often because he’s part of that gang who think you shouldn’t use soaps!”

Honey then interjected: “He did just get engaged!” Jonathan added: “They’re thinking of starting a family next year.” Muna was first pictured with Jonathan in 2018, suggesting she has been with Harvey for a considerable time. She appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox with her fiancé in the 2021 series, joking about the explicit drama Sex/Life in one episode, quipping: “This is going to be a fun thing to watch with your dad.”

Family’s Private Life and Health Challenges

Despite their father’s high profile, Jonathan’s children largely stay out of the spotlight. Betty has been open about struggling with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS). In 2020, Jonathan revealed on Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s Lockdown Parenting Hell podcast that one of his daughters had been diagnosed with autism, after being told she didn’t meet the criteria in the 1990s. He explained: “She fixed on certain things, and she was very strange about people. We took her to be assessed, but not for that, and because this was early 90s – when that stuff wasn’t really talked about as much. But now, we showed someone the medical report and they said, ‘yes, now she would absolutely be diagnosed as autistic’, but back then she wasn’t.”

Autism is a disorder affecting brain development and the way a person relates to their environment. A spectrum is used because not all those with autism have the same difficulties. Harvey’s engagement and potential plans to start a family mark a new chapter for the Ross family, even as they continue to navigate their private lives away from the public eye.
