Nintendo Direct Reportedly Set for June 2026 After Summer Game Fest
Nintendo Direct Reportedly Set for June 2026

According to industry insiders, Nintendo is planning a traditional Nintendo Direct showcase in June 2026, likely following Summer Game Fest. This comes after a series of smaller presentations earlier this year that left fans wanting more substantial first-party announcements.

Nintendo's 2026 Showcases So Far

In 2026, Nintendo has held seven Directs, but only two featured major first-party reveals: Pokémon Winds & Waves and a Star Fox remake, which had its own dedicated showcase aired late at night. Additionally, the company used its Nintendo Today app to share updates and trailers for titles like Splatoon Raiders and Yoshi And The Mysterious Book, and announced a new mobile game, Pictonico. This shift has led some to believe Nintendo is moving away from general Directs, but insiders claim a more traditional event is still planned for summer.

Insider Claims and Timing

Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb, known for accurate leaks, stated on the latest Giant Bombcast that he has heard Nintendo aims for a showcase around mid-June. 'They might do it after Summer Game Fest or around Summer Game Fest,' he said. Summer Game Fest runs from June 5 to June 8, while Nintendo's past June Directs have traditionally aired during the third week of the month. Grubb noted he couldn't confirm if it will be the general Direct fans expect, but the timing suggests excitement.

This aligns with earlier statements from insider NateTheHate, who in March said no general Direct would occur until June. When asked about Grubb's comments on X, NateTheHate promised an update later this week. His previous accurate claims included the Star Fox remake, summer release dates for Splatoon Raiders and Rhythm Paradise Groove, and other 2026 plans such as a full remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, a summer release for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and a Switch 2 Edition of Pikmin 4.

What to Expect

If the Direct materializes, it could feature major announcements for Nintendo's upcoming lineup, including potential Switch 2 titles. Fans are advised to stay tuned for official confirmation from Nintendo.
