A London councillor is facing an official investigation after his £208,000 Lamborghini was spotted parked in disabled bays on two separate occasions without displaying a blue badge.
Luxury Car in Accessible Parking
Farhaan Rehman, a member of Hounslow Council, is at the centre of the probe after his light blue Lamborghini Urus SE SUV was photographed parked in disabled spaces outside the local authority's own offices. The council confirmed the parking spaces are owned and managed by them.
Hounslow Labour has confirmed they are investigating the images, which were first reported by MyLondon. No finding of fault has been made against Councillor Rehman at this stage. The council stated this was a matter for the local political party to handle internally.
Contrast with Public Enforcement
The situation highlights a stark contrast in how parking violations are treated. If a member of the public was caught parking in a disabled bay without a blue badge in the borough, the council would issue them with a £160 fixed penalty notice.
This incident follows another recent case where a woman was fined £150 for pouring coffee dregs down a drain near Richmond Station. Burcu Yesilyurt was penalised under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 after enforcement officers saw her dispose of the liquid waste.
Investigation Underway
Mr Rehman has not yet commented publicly on the allegations. The investigation by Hounslow Labour is ongoing, and the outcome will determine whether any further action will be taken against the councillor.
The case raises questions about accountability and whether elected officials should be held to the same standards as the constituents they represent, especially concerning accessibility and parking regulations.
