In June, two men aged 18 and 19 were arrested in connection with the March shooting. Police stated that the men were recruited to carry out violent acts but did not provide further details. The investigation into that incident remains active.
Toronto police have also linked the March shooting to a broader pattern of shootings with a similar modus operandi, including a shooting at a Toronto synagogue on March 2. Police are investigating a "multilayered" gun-for-hire network believed to be behind multiple shootings in the city.
