Trump Accuses Ukraine of 'Zero Gratitude' Over War Peace Efforts
Trump slams Ukraine over 'zero gratitude' for peace plan

Former US President Donald Trump has launched a blistering attack on Ukraine's leadership, accusing them of showing "zero gratitude" for his attempts to broker peace in the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Truth Social Outburst

In a post on his Truth Social platform dated November 23, 2025, Trump expressed his frustration with what he perceives as insufficient appreciation from Ukrainian officials. The controversial statement read: "UKRAINE 'LEADERSHIP' HAS EXPRESSED ZERO GRATITUDE FOR OUR EFFORTS, AND EUROPE CONTINUES TO BUY OIL FROM RUSSIA."

Trump further elaborated on his position regarding the conflict, stating: "I INHERITED A WAR THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED, A WAR THAT IS A LOSER FOR EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE SO NEEDLESSLY DIED."

Peace Plan Controversy

The presidential outburst coincides with revelations about a 28-point US-backed peace plan that has been widely leaked to media outlets. This proposed settlement appears to accommodate several Russian demands that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly rejected throughout the conflict.

According to reports, the peace framework would require Ukraine to surrender significant territories currently occupied by Russian forces. Despite these controversial terms, Trump has reportedly given Ukraine until late next week to accept the proposed agreement.

Zelensky's Response

President Zelensky has indicated that discussions are ongoing regarding the American-proposed peace initiative. He suggested there is growing understanding that the final plan might incorporate "a number of elements that are based on the Ukrainian vision and are critical to Ukraine's national interests."

The Ukrainian leader emphasised that further negotiations are necessary to ensure "all elements are truly effective in achieving the main goal – to finally put an end to the bloodshed and war."

Trump reiterated his longstanding criticism of the Biden administration's handling of Russian relations, blaming what he termed "Sleepy Joe" Biden's presidency for creating conditions that enabled Vladimir Putin to launch the invasion.
