Manchester Synagogue Attack: Seventh Arrest Made at Airport
Seventh arrest in Manchester synagogue terror probe

Counter-terrorism police have made a seventh arrest in connection with the devastating attack on a Manchester synagogue that left two worshippers dead during Yom Kippur observances.

Airport Arrest in Ongoing Investigation

A 31-year-old man was detained at Manchester Airport after arriving on an inbound flight, marking the latest development in the investigation into the October terrorist incident. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism.

This arrest brings the total number of individuals detained in connection with the alleged attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue to seven, demonstrating the ongoing nature of the police investigation.

Details of the October Attack

The horrific incident occurred on 2 October 2025 when Jihad al Shamie launched an assault on the synagogue in Crumpsall. The attacker first drove his car at worshippers gathering on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur before switching to a knife and attempting to storm the building.

Armed police officers were forced to shoot al Shamie after he ran towards them aggressively while carrying both a knife and what was initially feared to be an explosive device. The suspicious item was later identified as a fake.

Victims and Heroic Actions

Tragically, the attack claimed the lives of two worshippers: Melvin Cravitz, 66, and Adrian Daulby, 53. Mr Daulby was described as a quiet hero who leapt from his seat to block the synagogue doors as the attack unfolded.

An inquest at Manchester Coroner's Court heard in October that Mr Daulby died from a single gunshot wound to the chest fired by an armed police officer, while father-of-three Mr Cravitz died from multiple knife wounds inflicted by al Shamie.

Three other men required hospital treatment for serious injuries following the attack. Police have confirmed that two of these victims have since been released from medical care.

The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover all details surrounding this tragic event and ensure justice is served.
