Queensland police have executed a significant raid on a residence in Brisbane's northwest, leading to serious criminal charges against a rideshare driver accused of preying on multiple female passengers over a five-year period. The operation, conducted on November 17, resulted in the seizure of critical digital evidence including mobile phones and a laptop from the suspect's home.
Multiple Allegations Spanning Years
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old man with one count each of rape, coercive control, threatening violence, misusing a telecommunications service, and trespass, along with three separate counts of stalking. The charges stem from alleged incidents occurring between 2020 and 2025, during which police claim the driver systematically targeted women who used his ride-hailing services.
Detailed Timeline of Alleged Offenses
According to police documents, the pattern of alleged behavior began as early as November 2020, when investigators claim a 20-year-old woman entered a relationship with the driver. Within two months, authorities allege the man assaulted this woman, monitored her phone activity, and appeared unannounced at her residence when she failed to respond to his communications.
The case expanded in November 2024 when police allege a 21-year-old passenger used the same white Mercedes-Benz A45 rideshare vehicle to return home. Investigators claim the driver exchanged social media details with this woman before bombarding her with messages and threatening to visit her workplace. This woman reportedly never met the driver after the initial ride and blocked him on social media platforms.
Most Serious Allegations from 2025
The most severe accusations emerged from mid-2025 incidents involving a 27-year-old woman. Police allege this passenger used the same rideshare service to travel home, after which the driver connected with her on social media. A short-term relationship reportedly developed between the two individuals.
On July 20, 2025, authorities claim the man arrived unannounced at the woman's residence and sexually assaulted her. Approximately one month later, on August 17, he allegedly returned to her home and issued threats, only departing when he realized other people were present at the location.
Police Investigation and Public Appeal
Senior Sergeant Robert Lowry has publicly stated that investigators believe additional victims may exist. "From the information that we've obtained, there probably are other women who have experienced this behavior by this driver," Lowry told reporters during a Wednesday press conference. "We are receiving calls about similar instances that we're currently investigating."
Lowry emphasized that the purpose of their public statement was to encourage potential victims to come forward. "We're putting out a wider call to the community to identify any other women who may have experienced this behavior," he stated.
Suspect Description and Legal Status
Police have released a physical description of the accused individual: approximately 170 centimeters tall with a tanned complexion, solid muscular build, and visible tattoos on both arms and one leg. The 29-year-old man has been granted bail under strict conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on April 17 for further proceedings.
The investigation continues as authorities examine the seized electronic devices and follow up on additional leads. Queensland police have reiterated their commitment to thoroughly investigating all allegations involving rideshare safety and passenger protection.
