Two teenagers have been stabbed in the face after a large-scale fight involving about 30 youths broke out in Southend on the evening of May 1, 2026. Police were called to the High Street shortly before 8pm following reports of a mass brawl, with witnesses seeing some participants brandishing weapons such as bottles and knives.
Injuries and Hospitalisation
The two teenage victims sustained stab wounds to the face and were taken to hospital for treatment. According to Essex Police, their injuries are not life-threatening, and both are currently receiving medical care.
Police Response and Dispersal Orders
Officers remained at the scene throughout the night to restore order. Dispersal orders were granted, granting police extra powers covering the High Street, Queensway through to Hamlet Court Road, and the seafront. These orders allow officers to search individuals or vehicles for offensive weapons without suspicion and to require the removal of face coverings.
Police continue to investigate the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
