Police in London have issued an urgent public appeal to help trace a 13-year-old boy who has been missing for nearly two weeks, with officers becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare as winter weather sets in.
Details of the disappearance
Abdul was last seen leaving his family home in Islington, north London, on Saturday 13 December. He has not been seen or heard from since that date, sparking a major search operation. When he disappeared, the teenager was wearing a black tracksuit and white trainers.
Family and police appeals for information
Abdul's father has spoken of the family's anguish, stating they are "deeply concerned for Abdul's safety" and are pleading for the public's assistance. Detective Chief Inspector Sarb Kaur of the Metropolitan Police echoed this sentiment, highlighting the added danger posed by the cold weather.
"We are increasingly concerned for his welfare, particularly as temperatures drop, and want to see him home and safe," DCI Kaur said. "Abdul should be spending Christmas day with his family, like any other 13-year-old boy."
Where Abdul might be and how to help
The police investigation suggests that Abdul could be in the Hounslow area of west London. Authorities are urging anyone who sees him or has any information on his whereabouts to make immediate contact.
DCI Kaur made a direct plea to the missing boy: "Abdul, if you're reading this, please get in touch with us or your family, we just want you home and safe."
The public is asked to call 999 immediately if they spot Abdul, quoting the reference number 8067/13DEC. Any piece of information, no matter how small it may seem, could be vital in bringing him home safely.
