New appeal for missing Surrey man Eugen Comanescu

Police have launched a renewed public appeal for information, one month after a man from Surrey disappeared in Scotland.

Timeline of Disappearance

Eugen Comanescu, aged 41, was last seen on the evening of Sunday, 3 November 2025. His final confirmed sighting was at a service station on the M74 motorway near Hamilton in South Lanarkshire, at approximately 8.20pm.

Four days later, on the evening of Friday, 7 November, his silver Vauxhall Corsa was discovered in an isolated area between Pitagowan and Dalwhinnie in the Scottish Highlands.

Extensive Police Search Operation

A dedicated team from Police Scotland has been conducting a major investigation into his disappearance. This has involved reviewing more than 100 hours of CCTV footage from various locations.

The search effort has utilised specialist resources, including police dogs, helicopters, and support from partner agencies. Officers had previously asked hillwalkers and others in the remote area to remain vigilant.

Appeal from Investigating Officer

Inspector Stephen Gray provided an update on the case. "One month on, there have been no new confirmed sightings of Eugen, but we are doing all we can to find him," he stated.

"We are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area and I would ask that if anyone has seen Eugen or someone matching his description, please contact police."

He emphasised the importance of public assistance, adding: "I would urge the public to come forward with any information they may have. No matter how small it may seem, it may be key to helping us find Eugen."
