Mother's Heartbreak After Police Discover Teen Son's Body in Kent Woodland
A mother has spoken of her overwhelming heartbreak after the body of her teenage son was discovered in dense woodland in Kent. Jason Stevens, aged 19, was last seen at approximately 5pm on Friday, with his car found abandoned in Blean Woods, near Canterbury.
His disappearance triggered a massive police search and emotional appeals from his family, pleading for his safe return home. Tragically, authorities confirmed they found a body in Blean Woods, Canterbury, on Thursday.
Family's Emotional Appeals and Grief
His mother, Helen Stevens, shared her anguish on Facebook, writing: 'It is with heavy hearts that we need to inform you that our lovely son Jason was found this afternoon at Blean Woods. We are all heartbroken and would like to thank each and every one of you that has shown such kindness to all of us during this time.'
She added: 'We take comfort that Jason is at peace and is in a better place. This goes without saying all search parties have been cancelled and again thank you.' Previously, she told Metro: 'I want him to know he is loved. And we just want him home. I miss Jason so much and want him back with me.'
Police Statement and Investigation Details
A Kent Police spokesman stated: 'Formal identification has yet to take place, however, the family of an 18-year-old man who was last seen on Friday 13 February, have been informed. The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.'
