Man, 25, dies after falling from tower block in Sowerby Bridge

Tributes are pouring in for a 25-year-old builder who died after falling from a tower block in West Yorkshire.

Travis Lodge fell from the ninth floor of the 14-storey Houghton Towers complex on Tower Hill in Sowerby Bridge at approximately 10.05am on Thursday.

Emergency services rushed the young man to hospital, but he sadly passed away later that evening.

Community in mourning

Friends and loved ones have shared heartfelt messages remembering Travis as a genuine and funny character whose life was tragically cut short.

One of his closest friends, Adam Chapman, expressed his devastation on social media. "I don't know where to begin," Adam wrote. "An absolute shock, you're no longer here with us, Travis."

He reflected on their long friendship, saying: "Growing up with you, from scraped knees to our recent late-night talks about our plans for the future, you've shaped me more than you could ever know."

Adam added emotionally: "Losing you at 25 doesn't feel real to me. I'll carry your memory forward till the day I die, until we meet again."

Friends remember a 'genuine lad'

Another friend, Josh Niner, recalled how he bonded with Travis at the Download rock festival in Leicestershire last year while watching Metallica.

"We met one night and spent two days seeing wicked bands and raving early hours in the night and became friends," Josh remembered.

He described Travis as a "genuine, honest and funny lad" and revealed they had planned to meet again at the following year's festival, but Travis never ended up attending.

The community has begun leaving floral tributes outside Houghton Towers, with one poignant message reading: "I love you, always and forever."

Police investigation continues

West Yorkshire Police confirmed they are treating Travis's death as unexplained and are actively seeking witnesses to come forward.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident but has since been released on bail pending further investigations.

Officers continue to appeal for anyone with information about the tragic events of Thursday morning to contact them as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the young builder's death.
