A festive Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the United States was shattered by violence after four people were shot on Saturday, 22nd November 2025.
Chaos at Family-Friendly Event
The incident occurred in Concord, North Carolina, during the city's 28th annual holiday event, which was advertised as a family-friendly gathering. The shooting took place on Union Street South, close to the intersection with Corban Avenue.
Emergency services were already present at the location, allowing for an immediate response. Concord Police, Concord Fire, and Cabarrus County EMS personnel swiftly provided medical aid and began evacuating attendees from the scene.
Victims in Critical Condition
All four victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Authorities have confirmed that three of the victims are in a critical condition, while the fourth is reported to be in a stable condition.
In addition to the tree lighting, the event was set to feature a screening of *The Grinch* on a large screen, alongside live music and a fireworks display, making the violent outbreak all the more shocking.
Police Investigation and Appeal
Concord Police have launched a full investigation into the shooting. Officers are currently reviewing footage from the event and speaking with multiple witnesses.
